New Night Train Switzerland to Sweden Launches in 2026

Perhaps your cup of tea is the stillness in the Scandinavian forests or the cool chicness in Copenhagen, sipping a cup of coffee, exploring designer hotels & shops. Whatever you're dreaming about - this new night train will take you there.
From April 15 2026 you will be able to take a direct night train between Basel, Switzerland & Malmö, Sweden. The train will make a stop in Copenhagen.

The night train is a collaboration between the Swiss train company SBB & RDC and is an initiative to create more climate friendly travel options. The train will travel Between Basel to Copenhagen and Malmö and will depart three times a week in both directions.
From Basel it departs at 17.35 every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. It arrives in Malmö at 9.35 the next day.
From Malmö it departs every Thursday, Saturday and Monday at 18.57 and arrives in Basel at 11.30 the next day.
Onboard you'll find sleeper cabins, couchettes and seats. A bistro will be available between Basel and Padborg.
Ticket sale starts already next week, November 4. Buy tickets at sbb.ch/en, in the SBB app or at SBB travel centers. The first train will leave Basel April 15 and arrive in Malmö April 16.
